Loading the verified release…

2. Install firmware

Saved Wi-Fi and device settings are preserved. The connected chip and flash size are checked before any files are written.

For a new device or firmware recovery. For content updates only, go directly to step 3.

If your board does not connect

Close other applications using its USB port. If necessary, hold BOOT, briefly press RESET, release BOOT, then try again. Choose the main ESP32-P4 port on Mini, not its Wi-Fi companion.

3. Install Liveries & Catalogs

Keep the memory card in your PlaneSlate. Images, aircraft, airlines and registration mappings are installed together. Existing content remains active until the new package is verified.

After flashing, choose the restarted PlaneSlate USB port again if requested. A full content transfer can take several minutes.

4. Make it yours.

Connect your Wi-Fi. Choose your patch of sky. Your settings stay on PlaneSlate.

Connect to set up your PlaneSlate.

BEFORE YOU CONNECT

A smooth first setup.

Which browser do I need?

Use Chrome or Edge on a desktop computer, through HTTPS or the local preview address. The installer uses Web Serial. Safari, Firefox and the Codex in-app browser do not provide the same USB installation support.

What goes on the memory card?

Use a FAT32-formatted microSD / TF card. Liveries, aircraft, airline catalogs and registration mappings are installed together in step 3. Keep the card in PlaneSlate during USB installation.

The USB port does not open.

Use a USB data cable. Close serial monitors, other installer tabs and applications using the same port. Select the port for your chosen board. The installer includes BOOT/RESET instructions if the board cannot connect.

What happens after flashing?

The installer verifies the firmware, restarts PlaneSlate and waits for its application. First start may take some time. If asked, select the restarted USB port again before continuing.

How do I configure Wi-Fi and location?

Use step 4, “Make it yours”, in the Web Installer. Alternatively, follow the QR code on the display to the setup hotspot. Later changes and display previews are available in the device’s local WebUI.

How do later updates work?

Firmware updates are manual through the local WebUI or Web Installer. Liveries & Catalogs update together; automatic content updates can be controlled in device settings. A Mini installed before 0.9.49 needs one USB firmware installation before future Wi-Fi updates.
